Both in 2023 and 2024, we were part of one of the most important textile fairs in Latin America: Colombiatex, in Medellin.

There were more than 25,000 participants from about 40 countries. Its main purpose is to promote textile businesses, and create a space where people from all over the region share their experiences with fashion in Latin America.

CAV+S participated in the academic agenda, as well as touring the stands and talking to various people leading sustainability and circularity initiatives. We noted that sustainability has become more important, and proof of this is the Sustainability Route, a guide to learn about good practices and success stories of 27 companies that contribute to circularity, social projects. and job creation.  New experiences were identified regarding the development of biomaterialities, digitalization and certifications, such as regenerative cotton; as well as companies being more responsible regarding sustainability statements that could lead to greenwashing.

We could see the industry is advancing. There is still a long way to go, but it is inspiring to see how compromised they are in being part of the change.
