Catalina Giraldo, founder of Cadenas de Valor Sustentables, wrote an opinion column in El Mostrador about how Chile is the blind spot of the global textile industry. Every year, tons of clothing, both new and used, arrive in the country, exceeding the consumption levels of developed nations. Giraldo, views this scenario with a mix of concern and opportunity. She welcomes the fact that the Ministry of the Environment has included textiles as a priority product under the EPR Law, as it finally acknowledges that clothing is not only a consumer good but also a waste that must be managed. However, she warns that this is only a first step.
